Tony Roma's & Flying Beef...
Saturday, December 29, 2007
Some of us had arrived slightly earlier at the Curve, so we decided to grab a quick bite at Kopi Oh! (Cineleisure), before Kohi, Zhao Heng and I toted our laptop bags into the cinema to catch "I Am Legend". After the movie ended, we quickly went down to Tony Roma's, the meeting point for Ek Ming's gathering. Before long, all the invited people were pulling out chairs at the table, and the meal commenced in short order.
The signboard explains all. Lauren ordered this, since there was a 'TR' * symbol next to it.

Lauren was SUPPOSED to order this, but it had no 'TR" next to it. So I ordered it instead.
Lauren and I Vincent hasn't really changed. As the meal progressed, several incidents occured. Here is a chronological sequence of events.
05th minute into meal : I feel small bits of beef land on my jeans and hand. I look around to see Lauren waving her fork and laughing.
09th minute into meal: Kohilan feels droplets of ice on his face. He looks around to see Lauren waving a straw and laughing.
12th minute into meal: Kohilan and Rajiv leap away from the table, as a tidal wave of ice lemon tea comes flowing along the table in their direction. They look around to see Lauren laughing and a glass not so vertical on the table.
We conclude that there may be a direct corrolation between laughter and interesting food occurences.

Nora, Ek Ming, Sue Ann.
Rajiv, Nora, Sean, Sue Ann, Nizam, Lauren. I think she was explaining something to Nizam here. The Good-Looking Guy + The Good-Looking Girls The Bespectacled Guy + The Good-Looking Girl + The Good Looking Guy Lauren posing in between Rajiv and Kohilan
Nizam falling asleep, Sean on the phone, Nora grinning away, Ching Yen being Spike, Soon Seng looking hostile.
This feels so PE3 -ish Can you imagine that we've known each other for 3 years? (as noted by Sue Ann) Almost PE3. When the meal had ended, we stood outside the restaurant for about 1/2 hour.
See the symmetry of the arrangement. The person with hands covering his face is Vincent.
 Picture Attempt #1: Fail
Picture Attempt #2: Pass Sometimes, mannequins can look spooky Me, Lauren, Vincent Another interesting night, before we packed up, and headed back to Semenyih.
*Zhao Heng was given 5 guesses as to what 'TR' stood for. Soon Seng: "So, whats 'TR'?" Zhao Heng:"... 'TRademark'?" Brilliant first guess.

Weng Hoe's 21st, and Empty Highways...
Wednesday, December 26, 2007
It was almost 11.00 when I came home from dinner with family, so, I called Weng Hoe to check and see if the rest had already left.
Soon Seng: "Hey, are the rest still there?" Weng Hoe: "They're still here.. But by the time you come, I don't know le. Before you leave, you call and see.." Soon Seng: "Ok then."
So, after swinging by Yenli's place to pick her up, I patched another call through to Weng Hoe.
Soon Seng: "Ok, we're going to leave now!" Weng Hoe: "Eh, the rest going to leave already la. Only left my SU and BB friends." Soon Seng: "Hmm.. Nevermindle, but you won't be sleeping so early, right?" Weng Hoe: "No, but no need to come le." Soon Seng: "But the important thing is YOU are there mer..."
(a repetition of this conversation took place between Weng Hoe and Yenli as well)
Setia Eco Park, the place where my funny friend just shifted to, wasn't that hard to find. After about 40 minutes, and some phone calls to Weng Hoe to confirm the place, we finally drew up at his driveway.

Setia Eco Park. I stopped the car in the middle of the highway, so that Yenli could take this shot.
Me, with interesting lighting, and a bit of Yenli. I actually drove against traffic. (See the sign on the road) I had already gone past the sign, but since Yen wanted to take a picture of it, I reversed in the middle of the road. (the beauty of untravelled highways) Only Kwo Kuang and Eng Teck were left from the TCC bunch, and before long, they left too.
But not before Kwo Kuang posed for this shot.
We spent about an hour talking to Weng Hoe, in his room.
Yenli grimacing into the mirror (we don't know why) "Taking A Potentially Dangerous Picture" Checklist1. No double chin. Check.2. Double chin cleverly concealed. Check.3. No double chin, and grimacing face. Check, and check. We bade farewell to Weng Hoe, after I tapau-ed chicken and lamb. I managed to take the wrong turning back home, so it took a bit longer to get back, but hey, I guess it gave me and Yen more time to catch up on things (sorry bout the toll though)
Well, Happy Belated Birthday, Mr. 23! Have a great one this year.
ps. Sorry Weng Lum, thats all the photos I have..

The Christmas spirit was definitely in the air, when we stepped into TGIF, 1 Utama. Faint sounds of caroling wafted into the cosy ambience, as we were ushered into a quiet spot for two, and left with menus to place our order.
I had finally managed to squeeze the time to claim the dinner that I had won from Nuffnang (bringing Joyce along to savour the food), and we found ourselves poring over the menu to see what we could splurge on.
Many thanks to the good people over at Nuffnang, and TGIF as well, for a memorable evening!

Battle of the Bands, 2007...
Saturday, December 15, 2007
I was at home, working on my assignment, when the phone suddenly rang.
Yenli: "Eh, Battle of the Bands (BOB).. Wan to go not? After that we go tapau burger." Me : "Hm.. Dunnoler.. I don't think I'll be going ler.." Yenli: "Why not? I fetch you la." Me : "I just came home from friend's dinner. And got things to do." Yenli: "Must go! You bring your things there to do." Me : "Okler, when you want to come? And your laptop still with me.." Yenli: "I come over now.."
15 minutes later...
SMS MESSAGE: Yenli: Very jam oh! I'm still in front of summit
30 minutes later, we swung by to pick Kwo Kuang, and headed down to Sunway Lagoon, where the event was being held.
Yen, Kwo Kuang, and I Good 'ol lion On the way there though, we got a call saying that it was too late, and the event was already over. Being Yenli, she was still adamant on at least trying to catch one act, since she had already suffered through a jam to reach the place. Things didn't really bode well, though, when we went on the escalator...
No one going down to the Surf Pool... ...and everyone headed upwards, to the exit. It was a relief when we reached the place, and saw a sizeable number of people still congregating in front of the stage. Here, the various celebrities were singing, while waiting for the results of the competition to be tabulated.
Liang, the MC for the night Denise This guy looks like he got punched really hard on the arm Kenny Sia (with his eyes closed) They finally announced the winner... ...which was Bus Company (sound familiar?) Yaobang caught a Mamee packet thrown to the crowd The People Who Like to Watch BOB and Eat Burgers After the thing ended, I followed Yenli to look for stars to take photos with. Yenli spotted Denise, who was already hurrying away at the time. I skipped over to ask for a photo, but her entourage smiled apologetically, and said it was too late. As I turned back to tell Yenli that she had missed her chance, Adam C. walked by. Yenli, not wanting to end the night without taking at least ONE photo with a celebrity, called out, "Adam.. Adam..". Since I don't think anyone could possibly have heard her, I sprinted over, and tapped him on the shoulder, which brought him to a halt.
Me, Adam C., Yenli (he was very friendly about the whole thing)
Since we couldn't find anyone else, we were all about to leave, when Yaobang spotted Hannah Tan. Needless to say, the whole group straggled like ducks over to where she was standing, to get a closer glimpse. We started the picture snapping with...
...me and Hannah...
...followed by...
...Yenli and Hannah...
...and...
...Yaobang and Hannah...
...and in the end, it was...
...Quek and Hannah... ...Kwo Kuang and Hannah... ...Heng Wen and Hannah... ...Kok Lim and Hannah... ...and lastly, with Ren Yi and Hannah. I must say, she was rather patient with the whole bunch of us queueing up like we were at a supermarket checkout counter, but I guess shes already all too used to it.
Members of the (Official) Hannah Tan Fan Club (its really official. we all filled out forms)
We parted ways after that, and headed over to the burger lori stall in SS15. But, being us, we just couldn't resist taking some other shots along the way.
Kwo Kuang and Yenli, in an artistic cover Trying to see who would win the Bigger Eye Competition... ...which I think I won. The Burger Shop Not a bad night. And the craving for Ramly burger was finally fulfilled.
Hoorah.

Christmas Night @ The Great Hall
Friday, December 07, 2007
Christmas came a bit early to Nottingham, this year. On the 5th of December, the student association organised Christmas Night, where everyone gathered together to a night of music and song.
We started the night with Pass-The-Antlers Lauren and ! (I got the Antlers this time) Joyce and I =) Remember this bunch of jokers?
Yes, thats right. Thats Chocolate Sundae. Performing, yet again. Sue Ann and I
That has to be the thinnest Santa I've ever seen Yenli, Joyce, Siok Kin Kohilan was dragged into a mini-game... ... where he became a newspaper tree. (his group won, btw) Shanti's kids from Desa Amal Jireh gave an excellent performance that night The People Who Sat Upstairs Looks like Zouk. Ok, almost. I caught Sue Ann standing on a random chair. (I found out later that she was looking for Kohilan & Co.) The Gang Well, quite a fun night. Certainly makes me look forward to the actual (Christmas) day. I guess I'll have to start my Christmas shopping pretty soon.
