Zhao Heng's birthday was actually yesterday, on the 26th, but we all need to find reasons to get together for dinner, so, here we are, in Swensen's, Subang Parade. It was a rather long event, since people started arriving at 7.30p.m., and stopped arriving at 10.30p.m. Nevertheless, a fun event. The photos tell all...

Alright, I've noticed that my last entry was light years ago. So, to make up for that, here's a summary of what happened this whole week.
Monday to Thursday :
Pretty much nothing.
Friday Night: After 2 years of saying to Yenli, "Eh, one day we go to Sri Anggerik eat nasi lemak ayam..", I finally called her out for supper there. For the confused, Sri Anggerik is in USJ2, and used to sell fantastic nasi lemak, where the rice is so full of santan that you could make a coconut out of it. So, Yen, Lynn, Kwo Kuang, Zhao Heng, and myself met up at night during the Hungry Ghost Festival for a yamcha session.
The nasi lemak isn't that nice anymore though.
Saturday Morning:
I went down to Semenyih to show some family friends around Nottingham. They had a daughter and son that were still quite far from making a decision as to which uni to go to, but hey, I guess it doesn't hurt to have an early start.

Potential Nottingham Juniors

Lunch was satay, in Kajang
To the citizens of Semenyih (Semenyih-ians? Semenyih-sonites? Semenyih-nees?), take note. The uni looks different now. Ok, not really different, but the HAVE added new things to the place.
- remember that curvy road that leads to Nottingham? The one that we all know and love? Now, the new road is slowly coming up, and you can see parts of it already ready to use. The new road still looks curvy though.
- to futsal players, the old tennis court has been converted into a dedicated futsal court. Oh, and for tennis players, there are TWO new tennis courts.
- the pile of concrete in the swamp next to the library has turned into a giant semi-complete building, which looks quite cool.
- there is a THE STORE, somewhere in Semenyih town.
But, worry not, there are still 8 ducks in the lake.
Some things never change.

8 Random Things About Me, Soon Seng..
Tuesday, August 21, 2007
I was tagged by Li Wen, so here it goes...
1) Each player must post these rules first. 2) Each player starts with eight random facts/habits about themselves. 3) People who are tagged need to write their own blog about their eight things and post these rules. 4) At the end of your blog, you need to choose eight people to get tagged and list their names. 5) Don’t forget to leave them a comment telling them they’re tagged, and to read your blog. -----------------------------------------------
8 Random Facts About Me
1. I like puppies and kittens. Most small animals, actually. 2. I can drink hot drinks (e.g. coffee, tea) in the afternoon. 3. I have sensitive teeth. 4. My right ear doesn't hear as well as my left ear, due to an incident in Genting. 5. I don't mind eating alone in public places (in fact, I actually enjoy it, sometimes) 6. I eat practically everything. (I've yet to try snake and dog) 7. I need very little sleep. 8. Reading a good book can keep me up the whole night. Thank God I need little sleep (Ref: No. 7)
And here are 8 people who might want to repeat the cycle..

Of Internet Connections and Midvalley...
Saturday, August 18, 2007
Of late, my Internet connection has decided to go wonky on me. About 2 weeks back, my wireless would be switched on, and the Internet light blinking merrily away, but I might as well have connected to phone line to a banana, considering the connection speed I was experiencing, (close to nil). My MSN has also been frequently disconnecting, and worse yet, it doesn't disconnect immediately. I would have sent a message, waiting for the reply to come back, and, 10 minutes later, the little man at the bottom right hand corner suddenly holds an X, and the message says, "could not be sent to all recipients".
Anyone else tearing clumps of hair and breaking furniture in frustration? Or is it just me, residing in good 'ol Subang?
On a happier note, lunch was with Joyce in Midvalley today.

Nachos

Giant Burger (although it looks small here)

Joyce.. =)

Me AND Joyce
After walking around Midvalley with Joyce, I just realized that sales come quite often in Malaysia.
God bless the Land Of Frequent Sales.

So as to prevent my blog readers from dying of boredom, here are some dog photos you can ogle at.
Dog courtesy of Leishia.
After we dropped Leishia off home, we just had to see her dog, Polly..

..the owner tried to hide behind the dog..

...with great success...

...we took turns handling the dog...

...it was quite fun...

...and I finally got a shot of the owner.
Really makes me wish I had a dog, sometimes.

Of Pencils and Public Facilities...
Tuesday, August 14, 2007
Our fair land has always been at the forefront of cutting edge technology, and groundbreaking achievements. We have international airports, long ketupat displays, moving sardine compactors (disguised as trains), and a whole lot of other thingamajigs.
Heck, we even have the world's tallest pencil*.
But nothing beats our public facilities.

Spotted recently, at a local sports venue
Yes, we now have toilets for Gentles.
I'm sure that this rare breed (of Gentles) in Malaysia is whooping for joy at this amazing development.
Alright, maybe I'm just being overly critical.
* coincidentally, this monument is in USJ, Subang Jaya. For those interested in seeing it, you can get more info here. Its actually quite interesting.
