"When was the last time you were on holiday?"

     When you start talking to chip canisters, you know that either;

a) You're overworked.
b) You're hallucinating.
c) Your life has no krrunch whatsoever.
d) All of the above.

So, when the green canister suggested that I head over to Singapore for a long overdue getaway from the hustle and bustle of Kuala Lumpur, it sounded like a pretty good idea. Even if it came from a metallic tube approximately a handspan in length and filled with potatoes.

After thinking carefully about it, it wasn't too far-fetched an idea after all. It had been some time since I last had a holiday, and the neighbouring island was ideally close enough to take a quick trip over, and back before the next workday began. However, upon stepping onto Singaporean soil, I wouldn't really have a clue as to where to begin, and what to do.

Luckily for me, that Pringles can had logged onto
Visitsingapore.com(I have no idea how) and spotted a tab called "20 Unique Things to do in Singapore". Being a rather time-pressed (and lazy) fellow, I asked him/it to choose 5 of the more interesting things to do, out of the entire 20.

Knowing that I'd be quite interested in starting the whole trip with a nice relaxing stroll around a scenic place. The first locale that came to mind would be the Pasir Ris Park, where one can do all kinds of relaxing things, i.e. fishing, strolling, mincing-about, etc.

Look how scenic the place is! Says the Pringles canister.

After the relaxing session, I'd like to drop by the Mustafa shopping centre, which, apparently, is open 24 hours (kinda like a huge 7-11), and has everything under the sun. I'd normally like to get my compulsory souvenir shopping out of the way early, and this seemed like a rather ideal place to get what I needed.

Its along Syed Alwi Road. The Pringles Canister can read signboards.

Next in line would be the Bottle Tree Village, a quaint little weekend haunt that is the home to unique bottle trees, and is touted to be one of the most relaxing places to hang out at.

I can imagine lying on the grass and looking at the sky the whole day.

Here, I'd be able to forget my worries for just a little while, as I walk around the landscape, which has a seaside resort feel to it.

Having had a relaxing day, I'd want my night to be slightly... different. Rather than head down to town to revel in music and dancing, the Pringles Canister recommended that I call up the Asia Paranormal Investigators, to book a tour to purportedly haunted sites in Singapore. I grew up reading the thin, black, singapore Ghost Stories paperbacks in MPH, and it would certainly be cool to finally walk about in the same places that those ghastly events (again, purportedly) took place.

Apparently, you can see the image of a face there, which is scary. Then again, a talking canister is pretty scary, too.

To end the whole day, I immediately felt like just settling down on a comfortable chair in a semi-dark restaurant, and rest my feet. The canister suggested that I drop by Wala Wala, a cafe bar located in Holland Village, which plays host to live bands and serves salads and the like.

Spot the Green Canister!

Apparently the pizzas here are delectable, and would be one of the must-haves if you're over there. Of course, it'd be great to end the night with a lively and stimulating conversation with a nice, stunning lady, who has a penchant for weird-looking guys that talk to chip canisters.

But one can't ask for everything.    `

Having done those, I'd call it a day. After all, with limited time, one can only visit so many places (especially when you lug a snack around everywhere, and have meaningful conversations with it).

Which is why, of course, I'd come back again, if only to say hello to the Merlion.

For further info on all these places (and more) visit the
Uniquely Singapore website. Or better yet, just go straight to Singapore, and find out all about it there.

liping: weird looking. Still, the surrounding area looks pretty nice, so it kinda makes up for it.
